2013-02-22: Aspen Institute Hacked, Employee Email Monitored

Level Three Attack

The Aspen Institute, based in Washington DC, was informed by the FBI that its email systems had been under allegedly Chinese surveillance for two months.

The non-profit organization has stated that their IT department is understaffed and overworked, and was completely unaware that something was amiss (paraphrased). The hackers stole usernames and passwords for three employees, and used them to sign into the web mail service.
